9/1/2023 0 Comments Katana velcro![]() The shoes are almost as tight as new when I put them on- but the rubber stretches up to the break in size once on. Very comfy, no hot spots, no circulation issues, after about 3-5 sessions. The first session ended when I had a hard time taking the shoes off! Stretched about 1/2 to 3/4 size in a strange way. ![]() Significant toe bend when new, with an odd chafing under my big toe joint. Speedster: 40, tight as hell out of the box- but no hot spots whatsoever! By far the best heel fit of any shoe I've ever tried finally, no dead spots whatsoever! This was a new experience: tight enough all around that after 10-20 minutes my circulation would slow- but actually comfy enough I wouldn't notice until I removed them. Took about 3-5 sessions to fully break in. A resoled Instinct vs delivered in Rocklands, where the heel was fine even on heel hook intense stuff. Stretched about 1/4 at most, and fit like a charm (tight, but comfy), but heel became sloppy laterally for the most extreme of side-pulling heel hooks (95% ok, but not for slopey, brutal, mantels, where the heel would mush laterally). ![]() Scarpa Instinct VS: 42, heel great out of the box, moderate bend in toes, some pressure in big toe nail, slight biting of outer, curled toe knuckles during break-in. Took about 5-10 sessions to fully break in. Stretched about 1/4 to 1/2 size, never got sloppy, but got pretty comfy, heel still bomber. Katana Laces: 41, perfect heel hold, pressure over big toe knuckle, slightest of bent toe, almost unbearable on Achilles during break-in (had to tape over rough stitching and stretch the area). I wear about 26.5 Mondo in ski boots.įoot: slightly wider at metatarsal head (base of toes), narrow/small heel (problem for shoes), slightly longer big toe than second toe, solid arch, chicken legs/calls. I tend to like smaller fitting street shoes, so my proper size is likely around 43. Street: 43 (42.5 to 44, depending on brand and style). I'll make the first contributions in the comments. This isn't meant to tell you what your size will be, but rather to give us some guidelines to help with shoe selection. Stretch after breaking in by # of sizes (0=None, +0.5, +1, etc., use "?" if you have not owned shoe long enough to tell)ĭon't make too much of a science project out of it. Size you purchased (specify Euro if possible, then US or UK) What you consider to be your foot width (narrow, average or wide)Īnd for each pair of shoes you have owned, list the following:īrand and model (specify VCR, Lace or Slipper if model comes in multiple types) To keep us all posting the same type of information, please include this information: In any case, it could save us all a lot of research time, return shipping and money to have all of that information in one place. Or perhaps you want to know how much people generally think a shoe will stretch. Obviously, it's always better to try the shoe on in stores, but maybe sometimes you have been dying to try that shoe that your local store doesn't carry. I think that the comments will be immediately useful, and if there is sufficient participation, I'll collect the results into an sqlite database or something and make some plots/charts by brand and/or popular models. I thought it would be very helpful to us all if we created a thread to collect up a bunch of information about shoes that we own, and the sizes that we wear (relative to our normal street shoe size). I've had some success recently with shoe sizing online by reading reviews and paying a lot of attention to what people say about sizes. ![]() So I had an idea the other day while I was ordering some climbing shoes online.
